Up, Up and Away! Columbus Air Force Base hosts virtual air show

Social distancing is keeping us from doing many of the things we would normally like to do.

To provide some much-needed thrills, Columbus Air Force Base is hosting a virtual air show by sharing videos¬†showcasing the 14th Flying Training Wing (FTW) and U.S. Air Force’s aircraft that are completing the mission at this very moment across the globe.

The base is also are highlighting a few of the civilian acts that were to participate in the Wings Over Columbus Airshow.

Welcome to part one of the Wings Over Columbus Virtual Airshow.

According to Columbus Air Force Base, “Academics are Phase One of pilot training on Columbus Air Force Base. Airmen from the Aerospace and Operational Physiology Flight and civilian sim instructors teach new students the basics of flying in numerous environments and how to stay safe during emergencies.”

“Phase Two begins their journey into the skies in the T-6 Texan II. Students will fly their first solo training mission and fly some hours at night. This is truly their first introduction into the world of military aviation.”

Columbus Air Force base says, “The T-1 Jayhawk is a phase 3 airframe. The T-1 is used to train the next generation of air mobility, airlift, refueling and recon pilots. Operated under the 48th Flying Training Squadron, the T-1 helps create hundreds of pilots annually.”
