Just hours after Mike Espy (D) received a high-profile endorsement of his own, President Donald Trump has once again tweeted out his support for Mississippi Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith ahead of November 3rd’s election.

The president previously endorsed Hyde-Smith in 2018 ahead of the special election in which she defeated Espy by a 54-46% margin after initially being appointed to the seat vacated by the late-Senator Thad Cochran.

Earlier today, former President Barack Obama came out in support of Espy, a former Congressman and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.

In what has become a tightly contested race with national interest, Hyde-Smith recently expressed her confidence that she will retain her seat in D.C.

“If we do everything according to the plan, the hard work and turning out the vote, we’re going to be successful,” she said. “I feel very good about it. People have looked at my record, they’ve looked at my accomplishments and we’ve gotten some very positive feedback.

Ahead of the election, Espy has criticized the incumbent senator for choosing not to debate.
