Drive-in theater coming to Mississippi for the month of July

As we are still living in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, one Mississippi town is making it possible for movie lovers to visit the theatre without having to be in harm’s way.

How? It’s simple. They’re taking a page from the 1950s—a drive-in movie theater.

In a project called Movies on the Mississippi, two local entrepreneurs by the names of Tate Hobdy and Thor Juell are turning a Natchez parking lot that overlooks the Mississippi River into a drive-in theater for the month of July.

“We have been feeling in Natchez that there is an opportunity to create some good events and get folks out of the house,” Juell said. “The combination of the pandemic and folks wanting to get out and us being a movie town felt like a perfect match.”

The parking lot can be found on Silver Street where the old Isle of the Capri casino was, and the movies will kick off on July 10. All tickets will be $25 and must be bought online. The schedule for the first two weekends can be found below:

*This schedule will be updated when the movies for the weekends of July 24-26 and July 31-August 2 are announced.
