Cruisin’ the Coast continues as Hurricane Delta nears

The 24th annual Cruisin’ the Coast is officially underway.

For the next five days—weather permitting—thousands of antique and classic cars will engulf roadways along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

With the only stipulation being that vehicles must be older than 1989, Cruisin’ the Coast is truly a blast from the past.

“Some of these vehicles are just remarkable…The whole thing about Cruisin’ is that, through these vehicles, it brings back a lot of memories for a lot of people,” the event’s executive director and co-founder, Woody Bailey said. “It’s truly amazing.”

Regarding Hurricane Delta, Bailey and company are keeping a close eye on the category 4 storm that’s currently moving through the west-central Caribbean.

“We’re monitoring it very closely, but right now, the next several days look good,” Bailey said as Delta isn’t projected to make landfall until later this week. “We want to continue on with the event as long as we can and as safely as we can.”

From Ford Model Ts to 1957 Chevys, almost any classic car imaginable will be available for viewing at this year’s event as over 6,300 vehicles have already pre-registered.
